Seller Terms

For businesses that list products on Chaffery. They apply in addition to the Terms of Service.

Who these terms are for

The seller side of Chaffery is for businesses only. By opening a seller account you confirm that you act for a business, that you are authorised to do so, and that you are at least 18 years old. Where these terms and the Terms of Service differ, these terms apply to sellers.

Connecting a store

You connect a store through its own platform — Shopify, WooCommerce or Google Merchant Center — and thereby confirm that the store is yours or that you are authorised to manage it. One account can hold several stores; a store can belong to one account only.

We ask the platform for read access to product data: names, descriptions, photos, prices, stock and product links. We never change your products, prices or orders. The access keys are stored encrypted, and they are destroyed when you disconnect the store or delete your account.

Your content

Product data stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and reproduce it — including your store’s name and product photos — on Chaffery, in alerts and e-mails to shoppers, and in search-engine and link previews, for as long as the product is listed. Photos are shown as copies cached on our servers; a cached copy is deleted within 30 days after it was last used.

You are responsible for having the rights to this content, for its accuracy, and for offering your products lawfully in the countries you sell to.

Listings, prices and notes

You choose which products appear on Chaffery. Product data cannot be edited on Chaffery — it always follows your store, in your store’s language and currency.

A shopper is alerted only when the price your store publishes reaches their target; nothing you write on Chaffery can trigger an alert. Notes are short public statements and must be true. Recommended prices and demand figures are information to help you decide — you alone set your prices.

The price on Chaffery is the price in your store. Raising a price shortly before lowering it in order to simulate a reduction is not allowed, and the rules of your markets on announcing price reductions remain your responsibility.

Fees and payment

You pay a monthly fee for each product you publish. The price per product falls in steps as you publish more; the steps are shown in the seller panel, and the exact amount is shown before you pay. Fees are in US dollars and do not include taxes.

Payment is handled by Polar Software Inc. (“Polar”) as merchant of record: Polar sells you the subscription, charges your payment method, adds VAT or sales tax where it applies and issues your invoices. Polar’s own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment.

The subscription renews every month for the products whose renewal is switched on. Products added during a month are charged right away for the rest of that month. If a payment fails, Polar tries again; if it still fails, your paid listings end.

Free trial

Each store gets one free trial: up to 3 products for 7 days. No payment details are needed, and a trial never turns into a paid subscription by itself. When it ends, the trial products leave Chaffery unless you publish them as paid listings.

Cancelling

You can switch off renewal for any product, or for all of them, at any time in the seller panel under Billing. A listing stays live until the end of the month already paid for and then ends; nothing further is charged. Unpublishing a product, disconnecting a store or deleting your account also stops future charges.

Time already paid for is not refunded, except in the cases named in the Refund Policy.

Shopper data

You receive demand for your products in anonymous form: prices, dates and counts, never names or contact details. You must not try to identify shoppers, or combine this data with other data to do so. Chaffery gives you no personal data about shoppers and is not your data processor; customers who buy in your store are your own customers, under your own privacy policy.

What we do with the data of your account is described in the Privacy Policy.

What is not allowed

How products are ordered

By default, product lists show “Trending” first: products are ordered by the number of new targets they received in the last 7 days. Shoppers can choose other orders themselves — newest, biggest recent price drop, price — and search follows how well a product’s name, brand, category and store match the words typed. The home page shows selections built from the same data, such as trending products and recent price drops.

Ranking cannot be bought. There are no paid placements, all sellers are treated the same, and Chaffery sells no products of its own.

Pausing or ending a listing or an account

We may pause a listing, suspend a store or close an account if these terms are broken, if the law or an authority requires it, if there is a security risk, or if payments fail. We tell you the reason by e-mail when we act, unless the law forbids it. If we end the whole agreement for any other reason, we give you at least 30 days’ notice.

If you think a decision is wrong, write to sellers@chaffery.com. A person will review it and answer you; if we were wrong, we restore the listing without delay.

Our responsibility to sellers

We do not promise any level of demand, visits or sales. Demand figures and recommended prices are estimates based on the targets shoppers set; they are not advice and not a forecast.

Our liability to you for slight negligence is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the event, and excludes lost profit and indirect loss. This limit does not apply to intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or where the law does not allow it.

Changes

We tell you by e-mail at least 15 days before a change to these terms or to the fees takes effect, and earlier if you need time to adapt. A new fee applies from your first renewal after that date. If you do not agree, you can end your listings before the change takes effect.
